The Sturgeon Project
Sam, from our hometown works with a Surgeon Project in Michigan. He gave us a tour of the project which runs out of a trailer on the Kalamazoo River. We learned that surgeons have prehistoric characteristics of bony spikes on their backs. Due to pollution in the river, the fish population is declining. The fish are being raised using the river water with hopes that they will return to spawn in the Kalamazoo River, thus increasing the sturgeon population.
